No, I have not uncovered a new problem in the kitchen, or anywhere else in the house {I do not have a “horse of a different color”, so to speak}…..I literally have a kitchen that has had MANY different colors in its lifetime.
As we have {almost} finished the demo in the kitchen, I thought it would be fun to share with you all of the different colors and schemes we have uncovered.
But first, I must say that I am actually a little sad to be adding ANOTHER layer and color to this kitchen’s history. Especially after all the hard work my MIL and SIL put in to help get our kitchen painted blue.
This particular blue was chosen to best coordinate with the mint green and orange hued cabinets {and countertops at the time which have since been painted brown as a temporary fix as I couldn’t stand them any longer}.
We also had a MUCH different sink and fixtures than is shown in the picture. Unfortunately, it was also something we had to take into consideration, color wise, when choosing the blue {it was what we affectionately called the yellow ash tray sink….something that also got replaced prior to this remodel because I couldn’t stand it anymore….with a name like that, you can only imagine what it looked like…it wasn’t just yellow}…yep, you work with what you’ve got….
I also think back to all of the hard work put in to remove the wallpaper when we moved in {in case you didn’t already know, I can think of nothing worse than PLANNING a project that includes wallpaper}.
So, let’s recap the colors we know about so far. We have blue, green {with a faux finish}, and cream {with….ahem….wallpaper}.
I have also found a brownish tan color:
And this little snippet of an even more fabulous wallpaper. I fear, deep down in my heart, that the kitchen was in the pink color when the wallpaper was making its appearance. O….M…..G…… But, you can also see the kitchen was, at some point, YELLOW! Also, that green color you see is not the same one that was painted when we moved in. This kitchen has been pretty green in its past {its probably most jealous of its neighbor, the bathroom…..because those walls are covered in milk house paneling….it is THAT fabulous!}
But, wait, I’m not done yet!
We have also seen a red and orange as well! The worst part about the red paint, where we have found it, is that it was allowed to drip when painted on {down behind shelving and such}, so we honestly have {what look like} blood drips running down our walls!
So what color will the kitchen be!?!?! Ha, like I am going to tell you that now {primarily because we do not know for sure yet!}…..we have most of the color scheme figured out. There is just one more color that needs to be picked and then I will share all the deets with you peeps.
