Going forward, I thought that doing a separate post for the Menards Freebies plus any additional couponing results would just be *too much*. So, instead, this week I will begin implementing a single “Couponing Roundup” post for the past week. I plan on continuing to go over the freebies at Menards, but also showing you what deals I snagged for the past week, and also what I plan on donating.
So far for the week, I have just made one shopping trip to Walgreens. For this week, I planned on going right away on Sunday {to Walgreens} and then will just do my normal shopping on Wednesday. The reason that I wanted to make sure to go on Sunday was that there were some really spectacular deals, and I wanted to make sure the items were still in stock as I planned on donating these items!
I snagged all of the above items which included two shampoos, two conditioners, (3) 12 pks of soda, (4) tubes of children’s toothpaste, and much more for a grand total cost of $10.50 including tax and Register Rewards!
Let me tell you how easy some of these deals were:
1. Pepsi Next 12 pks
Pepsi Next is a new Pepsi product, so there are a ton of special discounts right now. Walgreen’s is running a deal on Pepsi products, in general, this week as well.
So, simply go to Walgreen’s, buy three packs of Pepsi Next, and use the Pepsi Next coupon {you only need to use one and it will apply to all three packs} that is in the Walgreen’s April Savings coupon booklet. The coupon booklets are found in the front of the store by the sales ads each week.
You will also receive a $3 Register Reward {RR} by purchasing these 3 packs {Register Rewards are dollars off your next purchase – treat these like cash!}
Total cost, including RR and tax = $3.46!
2. Aquafresh Children’s Toothpaste
Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste, 4.6 oz., on sale for $2.00 each
Use $1.00/1 Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste, 4.6 oz. from Walgreens April Savings Book (exp 4/28)
And $1.00/1 Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste or Training Paste, 1.5 oz. or larger, from RP 4/15 (exp/30)Or use: $1/1 AquaFresh Fresh 'n Fruity printable
Or use: $0.75/1 Aquafresh Training Toothpaste printable
I was lucky enough to have the $1 off coupon from RP, so my total cost : Free
I plan on donating these tubes of toothpaste to our local PAVE organization {it is our local shelter where woman and children can stay to get out/away from an abusive situation}. I know the kids will love brushing their teeth with “Bubble Mint” toothpaste. I guess I can remember a time when I would have thought that to be super cool, but now it really kinda weirds me out!
I should also point out {or remind you} that when shopping at Walgreen’s, you can use one manufacturer’s coupon PLUS one Walgreen’s coupon {such as those found in their monthly coupon booklets} per item. That is exactly what I did for the toothpaste to get it for free {I had one Walgreen’s coupon and one manufacturer’s coupon per tube of toothpaste}.
3. Pepsi Next 20 oz. bottle
These are on sale for $0.99 this week. You will receive a $0.99 RR, making each one you buy free!
Just keep in mind that you can only receive one RR, for any given deal, with each purchase. Also, do not try to use a RR that prints for this bottle of soda to pay for the next one – if you use a RR from the same deal you are trying to purchase, you will not receive a new RR.
4. Similsan Nasal Allergy Spray
Similasan Nasal Allergy Relief Spray, .68 oz. on sale for $6.00
Buy 1, Receive $6.00 Register Reward
Use $1.50/1 Similasan Product from SS 4/1 (exp 6/24)
Or $1.50/1 Similasan Product from All You Magazine, April ’12 (exp 6/30)
Final Cost: $1.50 Moneymaker
Yes, I made money purchasing this item! Normally I wouldn’t have picked nasal allergy spray up, even with making money, simply because my household will not use it. But, I am going to donate it!
5. Dove Shampoo and Conditioner:
Get $5 RR WYB (4) Dove Hair Care 1.35 to 12oz, Body Wash 13.5oz, Select AP/Deo. or Body Mist 2.6 to 3oz or Active Clean Shower Tool 4/$15

6. Lysol Disinfectant Spray:

$0.50/1 Lysol Disinfectant Spray printable
$1/1 Lysol disinfectant spray 12oz+, exp. 5/16/12 (SS 04/15/12)
= $1.49 EACH when using the $1 off coupon!
7. Hunt’s Tomato Sauce {3/$1 with in-ad coupon}
I used these items as my “filler” items. Remember, when you shop at Walgreen’s you have to have as many items as you have manufacturer coupons and register rewards {register rewards are considered manufacturer “coupons”}. Walgreen’s coupons, such as the ones from their savings book or in-ad coupons, do not count towards your coupon total.
Also, just for everyone’s benefit, here are a couple of definitions to always keep in mind when reading my coupon roundups:
RR = Register Rewards from Walgreens {again, treat these like cash}
SS = Smart Source coupon insert from the Sunday paper {SS will always be followed by the date of the Sunday paper it arrived in}
RP = Red Plum coupon insert from the Sunday paper
WYB = When You Buy
Also, I know what you might be thinking: “Jen, you didn’t really ONLY spend $10.50 on those items because you are counting the register rewards that you got back…you had to spend more out-of-pocket than that.”
Well, you are ALMOST right in your thinking. Each week I carry over my register rewards – therefore, I actually had register reward dollars to use this week that paid for the difference {remember, register rewards are like using cash}.
I wanted to keep it simple on myself when I figured out my savings, so I just figure out my savings for each item based on all coupons and any RR {cash back}. So, yes, if this is your first time shopping at Walgreens, and you do not have RR from the previous week, your out-of-pocket will be a bit more. But, going forward, you will be right on track with me!
Now, here is the freebie I will be picking up this week at Menards:
Yes, there is only one deal for this week that I am going to snatch up. There are other freebies, but Menards has very recently offered the same rebated items {and I already have enough}, so unless PAVE tells me they could use those items as well, I will leave those on the shelf for others to take!
