Boy, do I have a treat for you today! My aunt shared a few pics with me from a few of the projects her and my uncle recently finished. When I asked if it would be okay to share the pictures and projects here on West Street, she put it best with, “Of course it’s OK to share my pics. I get ideas from other people’s projects, so if I can inspire someone else - that's awesome!”
That is exactly what I try to do here on West Street {either inspire others or share my inspiration sources}, so of course I just couldn’t wait to share these pics with you!
This is a view of her kitchen. She used to have striped red walls, but changed it up by using crackle paint to fit in with her antique décor. I am in awe at how it turned out and must add a crackle paint project to my to-do list. Also, note her really cute café bench seating {with coordinating condiment holder}….I would certainly want to drink my coffee and read the paper there each morning!
They also recently tackled putting stones up on the fireplace in their cabin. I am very much like my aunt in that I like things to be neat, tidy, and just fit perfectly square together {and to be honest, my mom’s entire side is a lot like this….so it certainly runs in the family}. Aunt J said although she didn’t necessarily like doing the project because the stones just weren’t as nice and tidy as we all would like things to be {unlike the brick fireplace they did in their old house}, she really does like how it works in the space and fits with the cabin. I would have to agree!
The most recent project they tackled, again at the cabin, was redoing their kitchen and countertops. They cut the countertops themselves! That is something Graham and I just did NOT want to risk. But, Aunt J said they found directions online for a countertop “cutting jig” and things ended up working out really well. From the pictures, you can see that they did a fabulous job!
{side note: see the stained glass in the doorway above? My aunt created that herself!}
{Do you have a project you have completed that you would love to have shared here on West Street? Well, I would LOVE to share it! Simply email me at weststreetstory@gmail.com with some pictures and a brief walk-through of the project. Let’s inspire each other!}
Wow!!! I have never seen this on a wall only on furniture this look amazing. I have been looking for a red accent wall for my kitchen this works perfectly.Thank you for the idea and tell your aunt thank you as well.
