It’s official, we are ADOPTING!

Graham and I are so excited for this official announcement {I only say it this way because nothing in our lives is “official” anymore until Jen has blogged about it}.

We are happy, excited, nervous, joyful, relieved, and anxious as we have now started the process to adopt our first little one and begin growing our loving family!

This decision did not come about lightly, or on a whim.  It has been three {almost four} years in the making, really.  This means we put a lot of thought and research into deciding which adoption agency we will be going through.

We will be working with Adoptions of Wisconsin {AOW} based out of Madison.  There are still a few unanswered questions that we will need to make a decision on, but most of them relate to what we are okay {or not okay} with in adopting a newborn.

However, because there is currently a waiting list to get into AOW’s outreach program, we have a bit of time.  And even after we are in their outreach program, we can still change our minds!  I plan on meeting with my OB’s office to learn a little more about some of the possible side effects during pregnancy {as it relates to drug and alcohol use} just to gain a little more knowledge that will help lead Graham and I down the right path for all that are involved.

P.S. to Heather, if you are reading this, I promise to call to reschedule that appointment very soon!!

Over the next few months, I will be sharing with you our experiences getting ready and going through a home study, getting our profile ready for birthmoms to look through, and our feelings that come along with the wait and anticipation that is part of the adoption process itself.  When it is all said and done, we are probably looking at two years {from this point} before we officially become parents.

There is one other big, and important factor, that is in addition to officially starting the adoption process.  As of this point, we are still going to be trying on our own, naturally, to become parents.  We both agree that if we are so lucky to be blessed with not only a successful pregnancy, but also a successful adoption, it would be an amazingly wonderful dream come true!

I have so much more to share about the first few steps we have taken in this new journey, and to continue to update you on what has been going on with our infertility issues, but this post was more just to get the news out there!

Until next time!
