Starting on Day 5 of our trip, Graham and I were finally at the last destination on Maui…Lahaina. This would be the second to last day Graham’s parents and siblings would be on the island.
The wedding couple wanted to take everyone to an authentic luau as a part of the wedding celebrations. Well, because of the location of the one they wanted to go to {this Old Lahaina Luau in Lahaina} and the fact that it took half a day just to get there from Hana {where the actual wedding was}, they decided we would all go to the luau the evening after the day of the wedding.
Because the luau wasn’t until the evening, we had our first relaxation day. Graham and his sister wanted to go snorkeling, Graham’s mom was going shopping, Graham’s other sister and her husband went jet skiing, and all I wanted to do was sit in a lounge chair on the beach and LOUNGE.
Graham and his sister decided to snorkel right outside of the condo and it was the perfect location. Because of how excited they were after their first swim out, they were able to talk me into going {I never thought I would simply because I am not a strong swimmer and was rather scared at the notion}.

I am so glad they talked me into snorkeling! It was a blast AND I was confident enough to snorkel the next day on a family outing to Molokini crater {post to come}.
The newlyweds had given everyone a water camera in the welcome baskets, and Graham and I had brought one of our own, so we had lots of fishy picture taking opportunities. The disposable water cameras we had did a pretty decent job. Here are the pics from snorkeling that first day off the Kaanapali beach:
When the night came, we all headed into the city for the Old Lahaina Luau. When we walked in, we were greeted with a lei and a mai tai. We then enjoyed an AMAZING meal {and continued to enjoy all-you-can-consume drinks!} which was then followed by the authentic Hawaiian luau dancing.
One other thing I did was take a few video clips during the luau. I had actually NEVER used this function on my camera, so with a little help {thanks, Geoff}, I quickly learned enough to get at least a fun little video put together. Please excuse the BASIC editing….it was also a first time thing for me {I wasn’t even sure how to open the video clips to edit them at first}.
{my first time uploading my own video to YouTube…..welcome to the 21st century, Jen!}
Day 6 – Snorkeling at Molokini Crater and Jen’s Photo Expedition to come!
