Things have been pretty busy here on West Street….and to be fair, things are actually busy over on Spring Street! Invites by Jen just became the newest tenant in one of the historic buildings downtown and we have been busy painting and prepping the space. The goal is to be able to open up for bridal consultations no later than September 1st, and there is TONS to do. As a matter of fact, while I am writing this, Graham is on his way home with the last of my furniture.
The office space is on the second floor of the building, located directly above a cute antique and craft boutique here in town. My “suite”, as it is called, is separated into three different sections. All feature beautiful hardwood floors and TALL windows….lots of natural light in this place!
When you first walk in, you are in what I will have as my welcoming area:
{looking right}
{looking left from the walkway that leads you to the next room}
Walking straight through the “walkway” brings you into the largest section of the suite. This is where I will host my consultations.
{south side of room}
{north side of room}
See that doorway? That leads you to the final section where I will have my office/production area.
{Graham likes the view from the office the best – he likes the “rustic, historic” feel the neighboring building has"}
As you can see, the walls are a standard cream color…..not Invites by Jen’s flavor! We also knew we were going to have to paint the drop ceiling as there was a few water stains and painting them would at least give them a “fresh” look for now.
I decided to mimic the color scheme from my website. So I chose a light grey for the walls, I am keeping the trim white, and will be accenting with pinks and a pinkish purple.
The best purchase we have made throughout this project thus far has got to be this paint sprayer:
We chose this one because it was electric {no need for an air compressor} and it allowed for painting at all angles….the purpose of buying this paint sprayer was to paint the ceiling, so we needed to be able to spray the paint at any angle.
Painting the walls and ceiling with a paint sprayer meant HOURS of prep work. We had to cover the floors, lights, and water heaters with paper and other coverings {luckily we saved all of the bath towels sacrificed during the kitchen remodel}.
After the prep work was done, it took Graham literally five minutes to spray paint the ceiling. The walls for all three rooms took about an hour for each coat.
We didn’t cover up the trim as it needed to be painted over anyways, so painting the trim white {and repainting the office door} is all that is left before I can move in officially!
Next time I will show you the finished {painted} space, so stay tuned!
